The first generation VFR400R was the 1986–1987 NC21, which had replaced the VF400F when the Honda VF series was phased out. This completely different model was Honda's first gear-driven cam, water-cooled V4 180° crank firing engine. Cutting-edge technology in 1986 and still more than adequate today. The clutch was hydraulically actuated and the front forks featured Honda's TRAC (Torque Reactive Anti-dive Circuit) system with adjustable dampening on both front forks. The VFR400 series were mainly developed for the Japanese domestic market.

This example is in good condition and has seen two owners since new.
